Transparency demands simple answers to simple questions. The route to get there, however, is fraught with complications & controversy – particularly in the case of cocoa. Companies & organisations collect different data, in different ways, against no common standards. As technology advances, customers not only need to access the data in real time, they need to trust it.
This track owner is still being agreed. There will be representation from cocoa farmers, the cocoa industry, government, NGO’s and retail.
How can we improve the cocoa supply chain and how can we ensure customers have confidence in data linked to cocoa products? We will discuss why transparency is difficult to achieve and how the word sustainability is inconsistently applied. We will identify how innovative digital solutions and technological advancements can be used to support an ethical supply chain.
